Review by Anonymous on 14/01/2008 Rating: 3 / 5 I bought a new Legato 3.0 from Evans Cycles.
What I like: it is a fast comfortable bike. The hand grips a particularly nice.
The downside is the pedals it comes from are rubbish particularly for commuting. Plan on replacing them. The straps for the toe clips don't stay on and you will crush the bottom reflector the first time you have to start in traffic and don't get the toe clips on because the straps fell off. Plan of spending a little to get some usable ones.
The second - possibly more serious is the design of the frame. Look at a picture of the bike, the rear tire is VERY close to the frame. It strikes me as a road bike being sold as a commuter. The frame makes it hard to fit mudguards and the people at Evans weren't much help (they did try). They also had trouble installing a rack not all will fit. If you put much weight on the rack it will cause the front wheel to want to lift up (until you get on).
This said, I do like it. It has cut my commute by about 10% (3-5 minutes).
